Active GPS, Real Time Tracking System |
In the GPS Vehicle Tracking world, there are two general categories of systems from which to choose, “Active” (also known as Real Time) and “Passive” .
Active GPS systems utilize wireless networks that allow you to receive data from all of the vehicles in your fleet and view the location of any or all of your vehicles in near “real-time”. Real-Time GPS tracking has long been the standard for companies or individuals who wish to monitor fleet vehicles as well as tracking assets (trailers, generators, heavy equipment). These systems are cost-effective, easy to use, and are virtually maintenance free since most require no installation of software on your server or workstation.
The most advanced systems include a wide range of reports and alerts to provide immediate feedback of any unusual or undesired activity. Features of the MARCUS® Real-time GPS AVL systems include 19 user-defined reports, 16 Real Time Alerts, Automated email delivery of reports, vehicle maintenance, routing and driving directions, two way messaging, and 90 days of historical data. Specific reports and alerts include start/stop reports, real-time zone alerts, customer job site alerts, and speed alerts.
